This past February Ashley, Amir and I hung out and warmed up after their winter engagement photos. As they told me about their Berghold Winery wedding plans, my ears really perked up. Until then, Lodi was just a Tesla song in my mind. But they made this up-and-coming wine country destination sound like the land of milk and honey for wine aficionados. Charming estates, few crowds, and complimentary wine tastings are all good reasons to head to the wineries of Lodi. Compared to popular destinations up North, this sounded like an oenophile’s dream. As it turns out it’s pretty sweet for weddings too.
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know these two after those engagement photos. By the time their Lodi wedding rolled around, I knew it was a great fit. If the choosing were the other way around, they are the kind of couple I would pick to photograph on any given wedding day. Thoughtful, sincere, and gracious, Ashley and Amir were especially fun to photograph. Documenting the story of their wedding was a blast. If all Lodi weddings turn out like this one, I might have to consider packing up my Tahoe bags and moving down the hill.
