Melissa and Jonathan went all-in with their Lake Tahoe wedding photography. For starters, I photographed the welcome dinner they hosted for family and close friends. The next day, I photographed their Graeagle Twenty Mile House wedding. Then, after the wedding dust settled, we met for a really cool couples portrait session in Truckee. In the end, I spent enough time with these two to really get a sense of what makes them tick as a couple. I could see how Melissa’s eyes light up pretty much anytime Jonathan shows up. And I developed an inkling of just how tight he was going to hold her every time they embraced.
Melissa and Jonathan totally nailed it on their Greagle wedding venue. If you are planning a wedding anywhere north of Lake Tahoe, the Twenty Mile House really ought to be on your list of venues. This charming bed and breakfast “eco-resort” will make you feel a world away during your stay. They have enough plenty of rooms to accommodate friends and family, but the place retains a very isolated feel. No curfew restrictions here!
While some celebrations may focus more on formalities, a Twenty Mile House wedding helps you keep it real. Though I am not sure Melissa and Jonathan needed any help with that. As you exchange vows, the forested ceremony site puts you amongst towering redwood trees. The patio and lawn are perfect for whatever kind of wedding reception floats your boat. Did I mention you can see stars from here? Yep, the stars do seem to shine brighter in Graeagle!
Ultimately, Melissa and Jonathan’s celebration was a rare and special opportunity for me. From the first moment we met, they put their trust in me to capture the special moments of their Greagle wedding day. Being there to photograph their welcome dinner was a perfect chance for me to meet family and the wedding party, and it only helped us get to know one another more. By the time we met for their adventurous portrait session, I was so excited to see their smiling, familiar faces!
