The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) announced the winners of their Quarter 2 wedding photography contest. I placed with one of my images in the “Reception” category. This Lake Tahoe wedding photography award was for one of my personal favorites of the year. It comes from Annelise & Ian’s Tahoe South Lake wedding this summer.
For one thing, wedding photography contests like this one have changed over the years. It is certainly interesting to go back and look at the WPJA contest results from the early days. Needless to say, there were far fewer entries back then. They also came from a relatively small pool of photographers. Nowadays, your photo is judged along with hundreds (if not thousands) of other images from all over the world.
With that in mind, placing anywhere in the top 20 is something that makes me proud!
