Who knows when we will be able to celebrate weddings like this again? I certainly don’t know the answer. But I still want to share this Squaw Valley High Camp wedding with you. As a Lake Tahoe wedding photographer for the past ten years, I have been to pretty much all the venues in our area. So, I speak with confidence when I say that this incredible mountain venue has one of the most scenic ceremony locations you will find. In addition to beautiful views, you and all your guests get to ride a tram up (yes, and back down!) the steep side of a mountain.
One of the best things about this Squaw Valley wedding venue is transportation logistics. As long as you and your wedding party get ready in the Squaw Valley Village, it’s pretty straightforward. Just step out the door and walk over to the tram building. I met Joanne and her bridesmaids in a suite with wide views of the mountains. By climbing out of the window, I captured a photo of Joanne which included the reflection of the peaks. There are a few necessary steps that can make this type of photo tricky (pun intended- I was on the roof of the third floor). I love how it includes her as well as the scenery outside. David and his groomsmen (covered by my second shooter) got ready in a nearby condo.
The ceremony site at High Camp is pretty epic. I still don’t know what the big black snorkel is for (see processional photo). That being said, you’ve got 360 degree views from here of Lake Tahoe, KT-22, and the Sierra Crest. When I photograph a wedding here, I always grab a wide angle lens and climb up on something tall to make sure I include both the ceremony and Lake Tahoe in the same frame. Another bonus of this Lake Tahoe wedding venue is the mountain environment for sunset photos. I always encourage couples to come outside for photos as the sun sets!
