Upstate New York Wedding

Johanna and Matthew exchanged vows at the Stone Tavern Farm. This rustic venue is in Roxbury, upstate New York. On the whole, their ceremony and reception were exactly the kind of wedding celebration I love to photograph. The Catskill Mountains are incredibly lush. Compared to the mountains of Lake Tahoe, it is humid and warm. They combined wedding rites from Eastern and Western religion in order to reflect their own beliefs. To sum up, Johanna and Matthew created a special event that truly spoke to their personalities.

The reception site was given the makeover of its life. That is to say, they transformed the Stone Tavern’s 12,ooo square foot barn into an incredible party venue. Wedding guests from as far away as California surrounded Johanna and Matthew.

Johanna and Matthew, many heartfelt thanks to you and your families for your hospitality. What an amazing celebration- congratulations!

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the wedding, I feel even worse about that after seeing these pictures! They are just beautiful. My particular favorite is the shot of Matthew and Johanna with the red bird, talk about serendipity.ReplyCancel

Amazing photos Chris, each one better than the next! And I have to ask (being a bird lover & parrot-owned!), the wonderful, wonderful photo of Matthew & Johanna kissing in the road under the apple tree…. you must’ve added that red bird, didn’t you? I can’t imagine any native bird that looks like that! I can’t wait to see the rest & order mine.ReplyCancel

    • Hi Sandra- thanks for the comment. You know, that bird was not added. I’m not sure either what bird that is! We’ll have to ask the folk at Stone Tavern!ReplyCancel

yes, totally stunning. when we are old and wrinkled we’ll be able to look back on these Glowing faces we had and we’ll remember it all in a flash. And more even, because I had such tunnel vision – There were so many happy faces that I missed in the moment that I’m able to see now! I’m looking forward to the rest.ReplyCancel
