Although many people think of a Lake Tahoe wedding as a summer affair, springtime weddings are a well-kept secret! What if you could enjoy a celebratory weekend with sunshine, but without the summertime crowds? Whitney and Jon’s West Shore Tahoe wedding is a solid case in point. As long as you grab an extra layer on your way to the lake, you’re good to go!
One of my favorite aspects of Whitney and Jon’s wedding was the additional time built into the pre-ceremony, “getting ready” portion of the day. The West Shore Cafe is a wonderfully intimate Lake Tahoe wedding venue that eliminates the logistics of moving the wedding party around before the ceremony. As a result, Whitney and Jon both had time to spend with those close to them. There is a lot of anticipation during this stage of a the day. As a photographer, I am on the lookout for special moments like these. Whitney enjoyed mimosas and champagne with her bridesmaids. Jon and his dad relaxed with a drink while taking in the views for which this venue is famous.
Whitney and Jon opted for a first look on the pier. Even though a crisp breeze blew across the lake that day, the warm Sierra sun cancelled out any chill. On a clear, sunny day, the backdrop at this venue is incredible. Crystal clear Lake Tahoe water reflects a deep blue sky and a few puffy clouds. These are some of my favorite images from their wedding.
West Shore Cafe Wedding Ceremonies
West Shore Cafe wedding ceremonies are available in two locations, either on the pier or on the lawn. Whitney and Jon chose the lawn for theirs, which turned out to be an ideal location for a breezy spring day. Every Lake Tahoe wedding ceremony is as different as the couples themselves. Whitney and Jon’s ceremony was lighthearted from the get-go. Their closing drink from a custom-built shotski (see below!) was a fun and unique way to seal the deal and send them on their way.
