Lake Tahoe has many outdoor wedding venues where you can exchange vows under a big blue sky. Northstar, in particular, features a unique ceremony site at the top of a ski mountain. The views up here are incredible. You and your guests even get to ride a gondola and a chairlift to get there! The good news is that after this exciting outdoor adventure, a large and modern venue awaits. Amanda and Christopher’s Zephyr Lodge Northstar wedding packed a heart-warming ceremony, a beautiful mountaintop sunset, and a crazy party all into one big day.
One of the best things about getting married at Northstar ski resort is sharing a scenic ride up the mountain together. So, most couples get ready at a private home or vacation rental. Then, they meet for a first look before heading to the mountaintop venue. Amanda and Christopher were especially creative with their first look location. Rather than just meet in the Northstar Village, or in the backyard of vacation rental, they chose a lofty fire lookout atop Martis Peak.
I enjoyed so many things about this day, it is hard to even narrow it down. As their photographer, I loved their first look on Martis Peak. They borrowed a gate key from a ranger, so we drove up the road all the way to the summit! It was a special moment in an amazing place that most people don’t visit on their wedding day. Amanda and Christopher were excited for photos during sunset, especially considering the views at Zephyr Lodge. The evening light was perfect, and we even saw a bear! Lastly, their dance party went nuts. Christopher and two of his groomsmen performed a choreographed dance that nobody expected. Amanda was blown away!
Northstar Weddings in Lake Tahoe
Regardless of the season, Northstar ski resort is an annual tradition for many generations. So, it makes sense that this translates into Northstar weddings for brides, grooms, and families who love Lake Tahoe. Although there are multiple wedding sites at Northstar, Zephyr Lodge is probably the most popular. It certainly is the most impressive. All of that being said, the logistics of a Zephyr Lodge Northstar wedding are many. For one thing, you and your guests need to be up for chairlift rides up the mountain. It may not be fun for anyone that doesn’t like heights! Additionally, a wedding at the top of a mountain takes more work for the catering team, your DJ, photographer, and other wedding day professionals.
