I consider myself something of a Lake Tahoe wedding connoisseur. Strong mountain light and epic parties by the lake are kind of my thing. But Vicky and Craig’s Zihuatenejo Mexico wedding was an opportunity not to be missed. For starters, I photographed several of their friends’ weddings. There was Lori and Todd’s Presidio wedding in San Francisco. And of course, Wendy and Abe’s Northstar Lake Tahoe wedding. So the likelihood of familiar faces was high! Then, there was the idea of a tropical beach ceremony and reception at the picturesque Puerta Paraiso. Soft sand and palm trees? Soft, coastal light? Sign. Me. Up.

Even if you haven’t been there, Zihuatenejo wedding may ring a bell. Do you remember The Shawshank Redemption? If so, you may recall Andy telling Red about his dream life in Zihuatenejo. His wistful description of this beachfront location was not far off. And apparently the fishing really is that good!

It is an amazing feeling to plan a destination wedding in Mexico. Seeing all the pieces come together is one thing. But seeing so many of your nearest and dearest make the journey to help you celebrate is like nothing else. This destination wedding in Mexico was a blast. I would go back faster than you can say “chilaquiles con cacahuates!”

Even though most of the weddings I attend are Lake Tahoe weddings, I am available for destination weddings anywhere. Send me an email, give a call, or pass me your info via the contact page. Whether you are getting married in Zihuatenejo or not, I’d love to hear your plans!
