Fall in Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite times of the year. Needless to say, the days are shorter and the nights are colder. But gone are summer crowds and busy roads. And with a moderate dose of good timing, you can watch the aspen trees turn shades of yellow and orange in a world that feels entirely your own. At Steph and Mike’s Olympic Valley fall wedding at the Resort at Squaw Creek, the best of this so-called “shoulder season” was front and center. Namely, crisp mountain air, a few seasonal raindrops, golden leaves amidst pine forests, and misty clouds that parted just before Steph walked down the aisle.

In addition to the colorful autumn backdrop, I loved photographing the fun moments Steph and Mike shared with their wedding party while getting ready before the ceremony. Quite often, the anticipation alone can be high on the day-of. So, Steph and Mike planned a “first look” on their wedding day. This afforded them time to spend a few moments together and calm any nerves about the ceremony to come. As a result, they both walked into the ceremony relaxed and ready to get married. A brief rain shower ended just before the formalities began. It left the air feeling a bit brisk, but a few goosebumps (see below) were the only casualty.

Would you consider getting married during this time of year? If you are looking for a stunning venue, the Resort at Squaw Creek should be on your shortlist of Lake Tahoe wedding locations.

To see photos from another wedding at the same venue, be sure to check out this Resort at Squaw Creek wedding (can you name the celebrity?) For more fall colors, I recommend photos from this Zephyr Cove wedding and this Kirkwood wedding.
