On a cold, blustery afternoon, the warm and shimmering sound of steel pan drums echoed in Edgewood Resort’s South Room. And the dance floor was busy until the last number. One thing that made Lori and Chris’ South Lake Tahoe wedding so special was the crowd. Lori’s family is from Trinidad and Tobago. This island country is the southernmost in the Caribbean. So, many of the wedding guests from her side traveled a long way to be a part of this day. When I met Lori and Chris for their Sand Harbor engagement photos, they assured me it would be a lively celebration!
A spring wedding in Lake Tahoe always means some uncertainty in the weather forecast. With that in mind, an indoor location is always your safest bet. Even though they exchanged vows indoors, Lori and Chris wanted some outdoor photos on the beach. This South Lake Tahoe wedding location is right next to the water. This means that an incredible backdrop with nothing but sand, water, and sky is just a few yards away at any time. As luck would have it we scored a beautiful sunset that night. Lori kept her long veil with her as we headed outside. With a little bit of lighting magic, we created some beautiful photos at this stunning location.
Get togethers may look a little different this year. You might be planning a smaller Lake Tahoe wedding. Or perhaps even considering an elopement in Tahoe. As your photographer, I care most about the special moments of your day and making photos that will help you hold onto your experience in the years to come. The same is true whether you have a big wedding, a micro-wedding with just a few friends or family members, or an adventure elopement on a mountaintop.
Getting Married in South Lake Tahoe
There are so many incredible locations for getting married in South Lake Tahoe. Although you will likely come across the big-name resorts early in your search, there are many secluded options that are winners in my book. This Fallen Leaf Lake wedding is a great example of a secluded venue that few people know about. Even though it was at a well-known ski resort, this spring Kirkwood wedding had a romantic feel without any of the summertime crowds. For more suggestions, contact me!
