I first met Jenn and Chris last Fall at a little chocolate shop in old town Truckee. They were in Tahoe for the weekend so we grabbed the chance to get together in person. As soon as we started chatting, I knew we were a great fit. Jenn and Chris are equally passionate about outdoor adventures. They travel extensively and hike up mountains together. Chris even proposed to Jenn on the summit of Mt. Tallac in Lake Tahoe. As a Truckee wedding photographer living in Lake Tahoe, I can relate to all their favorite activities!
Jenn and Chris exchanged vows at a private Tahoe home along the Truckee River. In contrast with many other Lake Tahoe wedding venues, the Deer Creek Lodge only hosts a few weddings per year. By and large, the Summer months seem busier and busier around the lake each year. Owing to the quiet location of this home, their venue choice was spot on. The Deer Creek Lodge is an ideal place to spend time with family and friends. It feels far away from the busy-ness of Tahoe roads. But since it is actually very accessible, it’s a great place to settle in and celebrate at your own pace.
The Truckee River flows adjacent to the Deer Creek Lodge and you can even hear the river from the house. I have to say that their ceremony was one of the most heartfelt, emotional events I witnessed this year. Fortunately, there were plenty of handkerchiefs to go around. Mountain Magic worked their culinary wizardry, and Steve from Function 45 paved the way for an evening of serious singing and epic dance moves.
