The mountains around Lake Tahoe never cease to amaze me. Contrary to what some locals may say, you certainly don’t have to hike 25 miles to find your own Shangri La away from the crowds. For their Squaw Valley engagement session, Molly, Sam, and I didn’t have to travel far. If you know where to look (and when to go), this popular Lake Tahoe destination offers incredible views. You can feel like you are the only ones exploring this stunning mountain valley.

When you book an engagement photography session with me, we will discuss a variety of location options. If you have a favorite place in Lake Tahoe, that is always a good candidate. On the other hand, you might just want to defer to your photographer for epic scenery and beautiful light. After all, it’s always fun to discover a new place you might not otherwise find on your own. Molly and Sam live in Olympic Valley year-round. Since they hike, bike, run, and ski in this valley, they asked me to join them at some of their favorite spots. During spring, fall, and winter, days are shorter in Tahoe. As the sun approaches the Sierra Crest, the late afternoon light becomes softer. In Olympic Valley, the forests and meadows begin to glow. The setting is perfect for engagement photos. And you won’t have to hike a full day to get there!
